Trading with other nations, at least, is not a bad thing.

Globalism is the subsidization of unfair trade whereas free market capitalism (as opposed to corporatism) is self-correcting.

Trading with foreign countries is only good for the United States if we have tariffs on imports to protect the competitiveness of products produced by U.S. citizens. Because the U.S. has a high standard of living and because it costs more for an American to have that standard than it costs in many other countries, we must protect those wages for Americans by use of tariffs. It is similar to having anti-trust laws. In anti-trust laws, a large company is prohibited from selling products at a loss or for no profit temporarily, to drive a smaller competitor out of business. The large corporate conglomerate can afford the loss for a time, but the small competitor cannot stay in business selling for no profit to compete. Anti-trust laws protect the small business from unfair competition. Importing products from China, and other places, where wages are low, drives American businesses out of business or out of the country. When American wealth is sent to foreign countries via imports, that money is no longer circulated in the U.S. causing stagnation and a weakened economy. Remember; wealth comes from only three things. Natural Resources, Agriculture and Manufacturing.
