Wait. If US deaths were possibly (probably) overstated by 94%, was there really a pandemic? 6% of the current number of deaths is around 35k, not even a bad flu year. That's not a pandemic; it's normal. So why the f*ck are we still social distancing, wearing masks, and talking as if lockdowns are still an option?
While cases in Michigan have been dropping precipitously, deaths have gone the other direction. Why is that? All I can see is that 30 days ago over 50,000 people per day were being tested. With Michigan's 30 day lookback period, anybody who had a positive death and dies of any cause within 30 days is picked up as a Covid death (suicide and car accidents are supposed to be excluded but who knows). These vital records searches can account for as much as 75% of the Michigan statistic.
What does this have to do with India? Maybe increased and widespread testing is picking up more deaths with Covid where they previously would have been missed. Either way, like Michigan, I wonder if it's a matter of deaths with vs deaths from Covid.
