What really needs to be assailed, is ayatollahs' ideology. It is easy to do - for it is based on a single premise that is factually wrong, that of one being able to know whether Mohammed was, or wasn't a prophet. That is patiently impossible -- and that error turns ayatollahs into idol-worshipers: https://www.newenglishreview.org/blog_direct_link.cfm?blog_id=70586

Iran is not a monolithic nation. Despite the Mullah's control, there are many Iranians who are not Muslim. The control the Muslims exercise is enforced by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is designed to protect the Mullahs. The only way for any successful regime change in Iran to occur is to undermine the IRGC. Unfortunately, that will take violence.
